Here is the LA-75, an earlier version of the highly regarded Joule pre, which has been checked out top to bottom and given a fresh brace of electrolytic caps by one of the best tube amp makers out there. The current Joule preamp, the LA-150 Mk. II will set you back $6,500, but you'll get a remote for that kind of dough, which this ain't got. (If you look at the middle photo closely, you'll see that the silver input/output i.d. strip on the back says LA-100, so this must have been built close to when the 100 was released.) Uses two 5751/12AX7 tubes; has four inputs and two outputs, tape monitor, off/standby/operate/mute switch, and balance control; comes with good pair of GE 5751 and--ta-da--a lovely pair of very strong, matched, 1960 triple-mica GE 5751s (which I just bought from an AudioCircler and haven't even installed). In excellent condition: faceplate is clean, everything else looks good, a small rub or two in the paint on a couple edges of the top plate. Please note: this pre produces unity gain, so is not for a system that needs a large boost from a preamp. It's a great match for source/amp that are on the strong side and need some attenuation and fine adjustment in gain. This is the pre for you if that's your rigging. $600. Add 3% for Paypal.
