Cary 2A3SE monoblocks with upgraded Jensen PIO coupling caps. These are late versions, s/n 990275 & 990276, manufactured and originally purchased by me in 1999. The late version is auto biasing, and has a phono plug with lead-out wires useful for checking bias to determine tube aging. The late version uses two 6SL7s; the prior version used one 6SL7 as input stage and one 6SN7 as anode current source. I have currently installed EH ceramic base gold-pin 2A3, Centron 5R4WGB rectifier, and two Jan Philips 6SL7. These tubes are fresh with under 400 hours. In addition, I will include a pair of Sovtek 2A3 and rectifier tubes(of indeterminate manufacture) that Cary sold me as a retube set. These have under 200 hours on them. I replaced them early in their lifespan in order to try the EH ceramic & gold pin 2A3 that received a rave review by Sam Tellig in Stereophile. Indeed EH do sound better. I will also include the pair of KR 2A3 tubes that came with the original purchase. These are fairly used up, but may be interesting for comparison purposes. Finally, I installed Jensen PIO coupling caps-- a significant step up from the Audio 1 coupling caps used in stock Cary monoblocks. Excellent condition other than a few small rust spots on the chrome top of one transformer. These Carys are great sounding SETs!
